If you are one of them we want you to know you are not alone
We are a grassroots activism art collective who came together to challenge the status quo about mental health as part of the Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival 2023.
The festival theme was 'revolution' and we redirected the conversation, away from pathologising individuals and towards improving society and care standards so that mental wellbeing is accessible to all. We did this by creating art that speaks volumes and gathering the experiences of others to raise their voices too. It's important that people do not feel alone if they are let down when seeking help so we've collected resources and research to help others advocate against this adversity. By conducting much-needed research we also hope to provoke changes to mental health services, increase their value and prevent harm.
Challenge norms and rewrite mental health narratives with your own your art, poetry, photography and more!
The results of our survey are
now available. Check out the report and
compare the findings with you experiences
using the new ABC-11 checklist.
We believe that everyone should have access to the help they need when they need it, and be able to make informed decisions about their own healthcare.
As individuals we remain anonymous due to the immense stigma and discrimination in our society around mental health and disabilities. Including against anyone who steps out of line with the status quo! But we can share how we formed our collective and why art is so important to us in the hopes that others will be able to do the same in their community:
